The pulse of place. The sounds of your surrounds. The stories of landscape and people.
Writing Home Summer School (28 July to
9 August 2013) promises a sensory approach to creative writing. You will create a piece of theatre in Mullaghcreelan Wood. Delve into the history of a terrain shaped by the Duke of Leinster. Explore a road less travelled of cultural treasure in North Kildare. Study the border landscape of Kildare and Wicklow through the paintings of a leading Irish artist. Recite your own work in a prime literary venue in Dublin, UNESCO city of literature.
Writing Home is a summer school with a difference. We promise you a stimulating programme, the best quality tuition, a mix of attentive teaching and thought-provoking fieldwork, time to write, space to think, freedom to imagine, places to perform and people to meet.
Based in Maynooth, a university town west of Dublin, Writing Home will draw on the historical and cultural riches of Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin, opening your eyes to the wealth of potential in the fields, rivers and streets that make up the world we inhabit.
Experts and practitioners in poetry, fiction, theatre, memoir, history, geography, songwriting and painting will work closely with participants to draw inspiration from our surroundings and bring it to the page and the stage with confidence and skill.
